How do we know there was a scourged crucified man in the Shroud?

Dr. Gil Lavoie demonstrates that the bloodstains on the cloth are the result of direct contact with the body but that the cause of the image is something totally different that is independent of direct contact.

An Autopsy of the Man on the Shroud by pathologist and coroner, Dr. Bob Bucklin. The man on the cloth was brutally executed. Here is an analysis of the image from the view of a coroner.

Dr. Gus Accetta is a medical doctor and has used the science of modern nuclear medicine to determine if the Shroud image could have been the result of emitted radiation as some have postulated. This paper documents how medically ingested radiation produces an image similar to the Shroud in many ways. Takes a few minutes to load, be patient its worth it.

The subject of the Shroud is characterized with differing views as is most every subject of intense investigation. The following is the view of esteemed pathologist Dr. Fred Zugibe who believes the body was washed prior to being placed in the Shroud. This is a different view held by others who claim it wasn't washed in order to conform with Jewish custom. Enjoy the debate! http://www.shroud.com/zugibe2.htm

Dr Fred Zugibe also differs with the prevailing view on the cause of Jesus' death as depicted by Dr. Pierre Barbet in his book A Doctor at Calvary written in the 1950's. In particular Dr Zugibe differs with the placement of the nail in the wrist and the consequent jerking of the thumb into the center of the palm (because no thumbs are visible on the Shroud image). He also differs on the cause of death and that it was was not due to asphyxiation as Barbet determined but traumatic (injury) shock and hypovolemia (fluid loss). Just like Fox News, we report you decide.
